Shebbear College – Success at the North Devon Performing Arts Festival

Shebbear College performing artsShebbear College Junior School is very proud of all their pupils who entered the recent North Devon Performing Arts Festival.

The Speech and Drama classes saw the children return to school with numerous awards, including four 1st places, five 2nd places and three 3rd places. In addition, Robin Dalton, Olivia Rolls and Douglas Willis-Butcher were all awarded a Festival Medal.

Connie Gillies gave such an outstanding performance in the Solo Drama category that she won the Junior Shield for Monologue.

Following this they competed in the Instrumental Classes with performances on trumpet, saxophone, flute, guitars and piano. Once again there were accolades for the performances, with Archie Boycott being awarded the Festival Medal and the Midland Bank Shield and Olivia Rolls the Festival Plaque for Junior Piano.

Once again Shebbear College Junior School Choir secured the Lyn Shield for the ninth year in succession singing ‘Orange and Yellow and Brown’ by Lin Marsh and ‘The Duchess’ by Arthur Lucas. The children gave a harmonious performance and were praised for the high standard of their presentation.
