Somerset-based Sidcot School has been awarded membership of Headmasters’ and Headmistress’ Conference Sidcot School(HMC) which represents many of the world’s leading independent schools.

The school, which provides an education to day and boarding pupils between the ages of 3 to 18, was subjected to a rigorous assessment of every aspect of its work from the quality of teaching to the cleanliness of facilities.

Sidcot’s Headmaster, Iain Kilpatrick said: “Gaining membership of HMC and international recognition is such an achievement for the school and the community in which we live.

I am particularly proud of our students who were described in the HMC report as ‘impressive, courteous and genuinely helpful to visitors and to each other’. It is a wonderful way to end my first year as Headmaster and I am looking forward to building on Sidcot’s success.”

Membership of HMC will provide Sidcot School with the opportunity to contribute to national and international discussion and debate about education issues in the independent sector.

Ian Power, Membership Secretary of HMC said:“We are pleased to welcome Iain Kilpatrick of Sidcot School into membership. It is a great tribute to the reputation and quality of HMC’s membership that we continue to attract Heads of leading independent schools in the UK and abroad.

Our new members further reinforce the association’s educational values and commitment to quality, innovation and excellence in education.”
