In December, the Primary school put on a fantastic performance of ‘The Gift’ – a traditional re-telling of the birth of St Brigids nativity playJesus. Each class had their own scene and added their own special flavour to the play.

All of the children from Reception to Year 6 took part in the production and were dressed in wonderful costumes in keeping with the story.

The story reminded the children about the true meaning of Christmas through the experience of Time Travellers who were transported back to theHoly Landby the ghosts of Christmas.

Along the way, the Time Travellers experienced some cheeky cats, a busy bazaar, beautiful angels, shepherds and animals and of course the Wise Men and the Holy family.

The children worked extremely hard – they narrated clearly, acted their hearts out and sang the traditional Christmas carols, which moved the story along, beautifully.

As one parent remarked ‘Christmas has really started now we have seen the Primary School nativity’. As always, our supportive PTA ran a raffle, which this year raised money to pay for every child to have their own Advent book to work on in the lead up to Christmas.

Reception/Nursery Carol Service

Our very youngest children also performed for their parents in their Carol Service. Dressed in Christmas hats which they had made themselves, the children in Nursery and Reception sang 10 Christmas songs which they had learned off by heart.

The songs included actions and they also played musical instruments to accompany their singing. Their performance provided very special moments for the parents of the children as well as the staff who were watching, especially their deliberately grumpy facial expressions during ‘Old King Herod’!
