A prestigious and exciting event took place last Thursday 7th March 2013 when our two highest qualified
cadets attended the Lord Lieutenant of Clwyd’s awards ceremony at Bodelwyddan Castle.
It is an even greater accolade that, for the first time ever, we have a representative from the Army Section, Cadet Colour Sergeant Olivia Kinney, as outgoing Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for 2012, and Cadet Flight Sergeant Emma Dalton, as incoming Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for 2013.
This is a privilege which is open to all cadets if they demonstrate perseverance and skill within the CCF, and is certainly something worth keeping in sight as an achievement to add character to any UCAS application to Further Education Witnessing this special occasion were the Headteacher, Mrs Barlow, the Contingent Commander, Lt Col Wood, Flt Lt Roberts, Chair of the Governing Body, Mr Hannigan and Chair of the Trustees, Mr Eyton–Jones.
Well done to both Olivia and Emma—we were very proud of you indeed! A team of 11 pupils took part in the All– Wales Cadet Climbing Championships at the Indefatigable Climbing Centre on Anglesey on Saturday 16th March and were successful.
Well done to: Ryan Harrison, Ellie Harrison, Kara Morris, Emily Green, Jenson Weston, Ellie Davis-McCoy, Will Roberts, Felicia Lopez-Libby, Katie Tansley, Lowri Henderson and Alex Liddell– Adam.
Particular congratulations to: Alex Liddell– Adam who was placed 2nd Senior Girl (16 and over) and Lowri
Henderson who was placed 4th Senior Girl.
Jenson Weston who was placed 1st Junior Girl, with Felicia Lopez– Libby 2nd, Katie Tansley, 3rd and
Ellie Harrison, 4th.
Overall on the day the team came second! Not bad for our first year of competing!! Great team effort. Thank you to the staff who supported the team on the day and in the preparations that have been ongoing since December.
This success complements the National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme (NICAS) awards gained this year already: 38 at Level 1 and 9 at Level 2. Wow!
