32 young St brigids climbing daypeople from Years 10 and 11 (plus one Sixth Former) had a very enjoyable day at the Indoor Climbing Centre on Anglesey and everyone completed assessments for the National Indoor Climbing Award Scheme (NICAS).

Level 1 is the basic level and requires everyone to be aware of all the safety requirements and
demonstrate some technical skills by completing at least 10 climbs.

Level 2 is more advanced and requires the completion of at least 25 climbs as well as knowing about climb grading and the art of bouldering (where climbers move at lower level and do not use ropes). Congratulations to 24 who passed at Level 1, and to the following who passed at

Level 2: Alex Liddell-Adam from Year 12, Lowri Henderson, Felicia Lopez-Libby, Ashleigh Powell and Katie Tansley from Year 11, and Ethan Armstrong, Nina Castillo, Flora Kent-Nye and Jensen Westonfrom Year 10. This is a great start towards our climbing competition in March.

Thanks very much to Captain Bunn for getting together a team of six Service instructors (four from the Cadet
Training Team and two from RAF Valley), plus one of the centre’s NICAS assessors. Everyone had great fun and
achieved both climbing and educational assessments ( Improving Own Learning Performance Level 2; part 1).
