The Summer term has started with a vengeance and the sun has appeared (finally!) to help us on our way. As many cadet events involve the outdoors, it is all the more important to us that the weather is kind, as sleeping in a basha (improvised shelter) becomes a more pleasant experience in a warm, dry climate!

Waking up to cold, and often damp boots and clothing can be miserable, but is definitely character building and more fun than you would imagine!

We have two teams representing St. Brigid’s School at the Cadet Cambrian Patrol, Sennybridge, from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th April.

Both the Senior and Junior teams are training for this competition which will testtheir teamwork and resilience. In spite of its competitive nature this event is always great fun for the cadets, who realise their capacity for determination, strength and camaraderie.

Year 9 cadets are having fun too – learning drill, drawing up route cards for D of E and getting to grips with the
right way to pack a rucksack!

Their next event is in May when, in their set teams, they will navigate a two-day route across the Clwydians between Bodfari and Loggerheads. More details on that to come nearer the time.
