St Marys School, Cambridge; Georgie Lockwood celebrates A*Photography students achieve 100 per cent A* success

100 per cent of St Mary’s A-level Photography students are celebrating an A* grade today.

This is the first year Photography A-level has been offered to St Mary’s Sixth Form as an independent course. These fantastic results were announced just as St Mary’s opens its new Art and Photography Centre of Excellence in September.

Charlotte Avery, Headmistress and member of the Girls’ Schools Association, explained: “These results confirm our place as a centre of excellence for both Photography and Art and affirms our extensive investment in these subjects. This specialist centre will have dedicated studio space, an Art resources library and the latest photography technology to ensure our students meet their full creative potential.”

Georgie Lockwood, St Mary’s Photography A-level student, commented: “I am delighted with my A* grade in Photography and also my A* grade in Art! The teachers at St Mary’s encouraged me every step of the way and helped me develop into an independent artist. I can’t wait to start my Art Foundation Course, which begins tomorrow.”
