St Mary's Calne GCSE results50% of all GCSE results at leading girls’ school St Mary’s Calne were A* for the third consecutive year, despite the national trend of GCSE grades falling and many schools anticipating lower grades this year. Nearly 80% of the examinations taken were awarded an A*-A grade; an impressive achievement by the girls.

Nine girls gained A*s across the board (18% of the year group) and 29 girls (60%) were awarded at least 8 A*s or As. 22 girls (45%) passed all of their GCSEs at A* or A grade and 19 girls (39%) achieved at least 7 A*s.
There were some outstanding results in specific subjects with 98% A*-As in RS (a compulsory subject for all pupils), between 80% and 90% A*-A grades in Geography, Latin, Art and Music, and between 70% and 80% A*-A grades in Physics, Maths, History, French and Spanish.

Two of the high achievers were girls who came to St Mary’s on a Foundation Scholarship – offered to gifted and talented pupils from the state sector. Imogen Dobie from Ratford, Wiltshire, was awarded 11 A*s, with full marks in History, and Millie Marriott Webb from Baydon, Wiltshire, gained 11 A*s.

St Mary's Calne GCSE ResultsOther Scholars who performed well included Rebecca Randall from Owlpen, Gloucestershire (awarded the 13+ All-rounder Scholarship) who was awarded 9 A*s and 2 As and Chloe Hutton from Alexandria, Dunbartonshire (13+ Academic Scholarship) with an excellent 12 A*s.

Impressive results were also achieved by Charlotte Baker from Farleigh Wick, Wiltshire, and Mia Millman from Chippenham, Wiltshire, who were both awarded an outstanding 12 A*s.

Pupils taking GCSEs early also performed exceptionally, with 100% achieving A*-A grades in Maths, French and German, with one of our Foundation Scholars achieving full marks in all modules in Maths, a notable achievement!

Headmistress, Dr Felicia Kirk, commented, “I am delighted for all the girls. They have worked extremely hard and their dedication and commitment have been rewarded. Congratulations to all the pupils and to the staff on these excellent results.”
