Following their impressive performances of three Shakespeare plays last term, pupils in Rudiments (year 8) were 
treated to a trip to Stratford.
They visited Shakespeare’s birthplace, Nash’s House and New Place and Hall’s Croft, the Jacobean home of Shakespeare’s daughter Susanna, taking time to stop for an ice-cream outside the theatre.
The children learned a great deal about Tudor England, engaging enthusiastically with their tour guides, whose knowledge was tested extensively with many questions!
After this educational afternoon they went on to the RSC to watch Hamlet – an interesting interpretation set in what appeared to be a 1970’s dilapidated village hall, which provoked intense discussion.
The next day the children visited Shakespeare’s grave, before heading out to Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and gardens, and Mary Arden’s Farm.
