Dogs go to school to raise money for pet project

St Mary’s School, Cambridge, hosted its annual dog show this week to raise money for a good cause.

Students were invited to bring their dogs into school to take part in a range of competitive activities, including a doggie assault course and obedience test. Prize categories included best in show, well groomed and most obedient.

The dog show forms part of the St Mary’s annual Lourdes Fundraising Fortnight when students organise fundraising activities to support the Glanfield Children’s Group.

Headmistress Charlotte Avery said: “Lourdes Fundraising Fortnight is an eagerly anticipated part of our calendar and always creates excitement and a great deal of fun and laughter around the School. Fundraising is a significant part of life at St Mary’s and we also encourage our students to raise money for both local and national charities throughout the year.”

Many St Mary’s Sixth Formers, staff members and alumnae, annually make the trip to assist with the day-to-day care of the visiting children.
