On Friday 15th May, St Mary’s Calne hosted An Evening with Rory Bremner, exploring ‘who really runs the country and how?’ The event was a huge success and was attended by over 350 guests. The drinks reception was held on the Sundial Lawn with Prosecco provided by Lupton Wines and the canapés generously given by a collection of parents. All the guests received a programme sponsored by The Week which many asked Rory to sign, as a souvenir.
Rory gave a fantastic performance and entertained us all for nearly 40 minutes – he covered a wide range of current political figures including David Cameron, Ed Miliband, Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage as well as Huw Edwards, Robert Peston, George Bush, HM The Queen & Barack Obama. He then held a Q&A session which allowed for further fabulous impressions– Bill Clinton, the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Charles and Frank Bruno. Finally he invited the audience to play a game of Heads & Tails which everyone enjoyed; donations on the night raised over £2,000.
