A pupil at St Peter’s School in York is celebrating after achieving a high distinction in her ATCL violin performance diploma.

Alla Petrichei, who joined St Peter’s Sixth Form from Romania as part of a scheme funded by the HMC Projects initiative, is the 11th pupil at St Peter’s to achieve a diploma in just five years.
The ATCL and DipABRSM diplomas, awarded by Trinity College London and the Associated Board, can only be attempted by students who have already achieved Grade 8, the highest level in music grade exams. In the past year, 19 pupils at St Peter’s have passed Grade 8 examinations, with 11 achieving a distinction and 6 a merit, paving the way to further entries at diploma level.
St Peters Musical talent
‘2012 has been a remarkable year for our instrumentalists and singers, and the pupils and staff in the music school have worked incredibly hard and deserve these fine results’ said Paul Miles-Kingston, Director of Music at St Peter’s.
