7 girls from St Swithun’s Junior School competed recently in the Winchester and District Primary Schools’ Swimming Gala. The gala was organised by the Winchester City Penguins Swi
mming Club and held at the River Park Leisure Centre.
With forty girls competing in the Year 4 freestyle race, St Swithun’s swimmers Evie Johnson, Madeleine Alexander and Anastasia Lawrence qualified for the final, with Evie finishing second, Madeleine fifth and Anastasia sixth in the final.
The highlights of the day, however, were the performances of the Year 6 relay team. Competing against 24 other teams, Emily Coulson, Alla Garside, Em Hardman and Grace Walton qualified for the U11 girls’ medley and freestyle relays finals, winning the title in both events.
