Last term, four U5 girls took part in the UK Linguistics Olympiad. UKLO is a national competition for secondary school St Swithunsstudents in which they have to solve linguistic data problems.

The problems are based on languages of which students have no known previous knowledge such as Apinaye which is spoken by fewer than 800 people in Brazil.

Congratulations to Sacha Onslow who was awarded a silver certificate and achieved best in school for the second year running. Certificates of participation were also awarded to Mary Gatenby, Ella Jonas and Tiffany Wong.
