St Swithun’s win U14 West Rally lacrosse

St Swithuns LacrosseSt Swithun’s Winchester recently hosted the annual West Rally lacrosse tournament for the U14, U13 and U12 teams. In total there were 36 teams competing from 12 schools – that makes 600 lacrosse players in action on the day!

The U14s competed against Heathfield, Westonbirt and Rendcombe in the morning and did not allow the opposition to score a single goal. The U14 team remained undefeated throughout the day and beat Godolphin, St Mary’s and Downe House to win the West Rally title for the 2nd year in a row. In total the team scored 29 goals and only conceded 2.

The U12s had 2 draws and won 3 matches against St George’s, Godolphin and Cheltenham finishing 4th overall in the afternoon after tough matches against Queen Anne’s and Downe House. The U13s won all their games against Sherborne, Rendcombe and St Mary’s Calne and finished as runners-up with a tough first afternoon match against St Mary’s Calne but wins over Downe House and Queen Anne’s.

Head of PE at St Swithun’s Justine Mackenzie said ‘This was an excellent day with a very high standard of competitive lacrosse. I am very proud of the St Swithun’s U14 team for remaining undefeated throughout the day’.
