Three girls from St Swithun’s School, Winchester have been selected for the South East England football team 2015.

Chrissie Gregson aged 15, Roseanna Stratton and Lucy Jonas, both 16, attended a regional trial and squad training day at Hampton School, Middlesex.  They entered the U18 trial, along with eight other St Swithun’s players. The girls competed against an extremely high standard of 35 other players, some of whom play for league football teams.

The girls will represent the South East of England at the ISFA (Independent Schools’ Football Association) Girls’ Regional Representative Festival 2015 to be held on Sunday 8th March at Harrow School. The girls will play against the other four English regions and the Scottish Independent Schools team. The day is also intended as a selection day for an ISFA England National Team to play other countries next academic year.

St Swithun’s coach Paul Boyd-Leslie said “It is an amazing achievement for the girls. We have only been playing football at St Swithun’s for the last 9 months or so. To have girls represent the South East region is far more than I could have expected. They have worked hard in training and in their tournament matches and deserve this opportunity. It is very exciting for the individuals and the school.”
