Last weekend St Swithun’s School, Winchester Greenpower team competed in the Greenpower heats at the Goodwood motor racing circuit. The Greenpower Education Trust’s objective is to advance education in sustainable engineering and technology for young people. Electric car racing events challenge students to design, build and race cars under guidance of teachers and mentors.

Modifications made to the St Swithun’s car, Cobolt, were tested at Goodwood in March but this was the first proper race with the modified design. It was also the first time that the team had experienced the new 1 ½ hour race format with no battery changing. The changes paid off and the team finished 3rd in a field of 45 teams.
