St Swithun’s Junior School pupil wins gold at National Diving Skills final

St_Swithuns_Junior_school_winchester_evie_divingAfter being crowned South East Regional Skills Diving Champion St Swithun’s Junior School pupil Evie Johnson, age 11, from Winchester, travelled to Sheffield with 24 divers from Southampton Diving Academy, who all qualified to compete at the National Skills Diving finals.  Evie, who swims for Winchester City Penguins Club, competed in the age 11 category with 41 divers from across the country, performing a total of 12 dives from poolside, 1 metre and 3 metre springboards.  In an extremely tense competition which lasted over 90 minutes, Evie was awarded several 9.5’s and 9’s, winning gold medal place by a clear margin.
