Mr David Kininmonth from Salisbury, father of St Swithun’s pupils Sophie and Iona, has just completed a cycle ride from Land’s End in Cornwall to John O’ Groats, Scotland, raising £3,000 for St Swithun’s sister school, St Katherine’s in Uganda.

Mr Kininmonth cycled an average of 110 miles day over 8 days carrying his own kit. He completed his challenge in good time without having had any punctures. A significant memory was ‘crossing the Firth of Forth road bridge on a no bike lane which caused a lot of hooting and hollering’.

This feat follows the ‘Legging It for Lira’ challenge held in September 2013 by St Swithun’s School, Winchester, which challenged pupils and families to cover the 6,000 miles distance between Winchester and Lira, Uganda, through sponsored activities. The school raised over £20,000 for St Katherine’s from this event.
