8 girls from St Swithun’s Junior School, Years 5 and 6 recently competed in the South Regional Schools’ Biathlon Championships at Aldershot Garrison.
Many congratulations to Alla Garside, from Winchester, who won the Year 6 girls’ event to become Hampshire and regional champion. In the team event Alla, Emily Coulson, Harriet Smailes and Natasha Smailes finished in second place, with Harriet Waldron, Alice Calder, Phoebe Shannon and Lucy Herring also competing extremely well for St Swithun’s. All girls all did incredibly well achieving personal bests in the 500 metres run and 50 metres swim against girls from Hampshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire.
