St Swithun’s School pupil and keen sailor Olivia Bracey-Davis from Winchester is due to represent Great Britain in July. 11-year-old Olivia will be competing at the week-long RS Tera World Championships in Aquavitesse, Holland. The RS Tera is the class of boat which Olivia competes in.

Olivia, a member at Hayling Island Sailing Club, who has been sailing since the age of eight, was selected in October last year and has been training with the GBR RS Tera squad over the winter and spring of this year. This is a squad of only 24 sailors in this boat class who have shown potential to excel at the sport.

Olivia took part in a number of selection events to achieve her place together with demonstrating a positive attitude and commitment to the sport. The selection events included the RS Tera Start of Seasons Championships at Northampton Sailing Club, the RS Tera Inland National Championships at Draycote Water Sailing Club and the RS Tera National Championships at Derwent Reservoir Sailing Club.

Olivia also competed in the RS Classes End of Season Championships at Datchet Water.

She will also be competing in the RS Tera National Championships at the National Sailing Academy, Weymouth in August.
