Stonar Pupils Dazzle in National and International Equestrian Events

Stonar School EquestrianYear 10 pupil Poppy Blokland, aged 14 from Marlborough, became National Junior Schools Show Jumping Champion 2013 at Hickstead in early August.

Poppy and her dun gelding, Mr Skips were last to go in the final jump off and went for gold, knocking a second off the fastest round so far and taking the individual title from runner-up and 2012 winner Katinka Brogaard of Godolphin School.

Stonar’s Junior team of Ella Garlick, Imogen Humphrey and Poppy Blokland also clinched an excellent fifth place in the National Junior Schools Team Championships, with all three riders producing impressive second rounds in Hickstead’s renowned international arena.

Stonar School EquestrianEarlier in the summer Year 10 pupil Chelsea Pearce also aged 14 from Shalbourne in Wiltshire, represented GB at the FEI Pony European Championships in Arezzo, Italy on her outstanding pony Catherston Nutsafe. Riding as an individual Chelsea and her pony put in a superb performance and finished a very commendable 15th in a highly competitive international field.
