Pupils from Stonyhurst College have every reason to celebrate with 27% of all results being awarded the top grade 9–8 and 44% awarded grade 9-7 (equivalent to A*/A).

The Languages Faculty is especially delighted that nearly two thirds of all pupils taking a language at GCSE or iGCSE achieved an A*/A equivalent. Other departments with notable grade 9-7 achievement percentages include Chemistry (44%), English Language (64%), English Literature (50%), Latin (75%), Mathematics (45%) and Physics (56%).

John Browne, Headmaster at Stonyhurst College, said: “This is such a significant day for our young people. Stonyhurst aims to form each young person into the best version of themselves following our motto Quant Je Puis (As much as I can). Beyond the impressive statistics there are a huge number of individual triumphs which is testament to the support from both our dedicated staff and the families of our young people.

I should like to offer my congratulations to the students and look forward to welcoming them back to Stonyhurst in September as they embark upon their next step, whether A-level, International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or IB Careers Related Programme.”

Stonyhurst students also recently celebrated A-level and International Baccalaureate success with over a third of all entries achieving the equivalent of A* or A Grades enabling them to go on to study at a range of prestigious university courses in the UK, USA and Europe.
