Stonyhurst students get a place at Oxford

Five sixth formers from Stonyhurst College in Lancashire have gained places at Oxford University. Stonyhurst College Oxford University five pupils

Lucia Turner has been offered a place to study Medicine at Lincoln College and James Powell will read Law at Lady Margaret Hall; both have attended the Jesuit day and boarding school since Year 7.

Charlotte Redmond, Stonyhurst’s Head Girl, will read Biomedical Science at St Catherine’s College, and Simon Whittle, a boarder at Stonyhurst from Bromsgrove, will read Philosophy and Theology at St Benets Hall; Simon and Charlotte have been pupils at the school since Year 9. Natalya Filvarova from the Ukraine, who joined Stonyhurst’s sixth form, will read Experimental Psychology at Queen’s College.

The Headmaster, Andrew Johnson, said: “It is incredibly difficult to get into Oxford or Cambridge and I am delighted with the achievements of these 5 young people. Their success is the result of sheer hard work and the excellent support they have received from their teachers.”
