The new accommodation sleeps fourteen boys and is situated in part of a converted stable block at the historic school.

The Principal of Stover School, Sue Bradley, says:

“The development is in response to a growing demand for boarding places. This is coming from families in this country and internationally. Some of the enquiries are from parents serving in the armed forces who want to keep siblings in the same school. The new accommodation enables us to offer a great deal of flexibility, as apart from the full-time places, we also have short-term and occasional boarding.

This is important because Stover day pupils come from all over Devon and our wide programme of extra-curricular activities sometimes means they have to stay on into the evening. Stover School has the great advantage of being situated in seventy-acres of glorious, secluded grounds, providing excellent sports facilities and a safe haven for our students, while being close to major road links.”

The boys’ boarding house is part of a programme of expansion at the school, which also includes plans for the development of a new Sixth Form Centre.

In addition, the school, which caters for pupils from the ages of three to eighteen, will become fully-educational from September. Until now, boys and girls from Years 7 to 9 have been taught in parallel classes. The school day is also being extended until 4.30 pm, with an increase in teaching time.
