Members of the Burgess Hill School for Girls’ equestrian team, along with their trusty steeds, represented the school at the National Schools' Equestrian Association Inter-School Show Jumping Competition held at Golden Cross in East Sussex.

Amy Gareze, 11, and Sarah Rogers, 12, took to the course first in the 'scurry', an individual event, and were placed 3rd and 4th respectively. They were then joined by Alice Reffin, 12, and Rachael Hawkins, 12, in the team event. All four team members rode beautiful, accurate clear rounds putting them into the jump-off with only three other schools who had also achieved the coveted team clear.

Once again, all four rode extremely fast, clear rounds and finished just one second behind the eventual first place winners, putting them in second place.

In the following class, another scurry, Alice and Rachael both rode fast, clear rounds putting Rachael in 4th place.

The successful team members were then joined by another of the Burgess Hill School riders, Katie Vaughan, 14, riding as an individual. She was placed 4th in the Intermediate Class on her pony Silver.

Jane Gareze, Amy’s mother said, "Fantastic riding from all the girls and an incredible achievement to have four clear individual, four clear team and four clear jump-offs over the course of the show."
