In preparation for work experience this Summer, the Careers Department has been visiting employers on site to cement our links with the world of work, and to thank the many individuals and companies who have offered placements.

On one visit (Monday 3 June) to London, we were pleased to meet Ian McHoul of AMEC plc, an international engineering consultancy firm with offices close to the Shard and St Paul’s Cathedral in the Square Mile. Andrew Mills of John Lewis Partnership in Victoria has kindly agreed to host an Oakhamian working in their in-house property department.

Graham Morgan of Kingston Smith LLP (Chartered Accountants) hosted a visit to their offices close to the Barbican and introduced the varied undertakings of his firm in audit, tax and consultancy work. It was a great pleasure to visit innovision in Regent’s Park who have taken many Oakhamians for work experience over the years. A recent achievement of theirs was ‘Mandeville’ at the 2012 London Olympics.work experience Mandeville Olympic

As our Fifth and Sixth Form students prepare for their summer work experience, Oakham School would like to thank all organisations who have provided Oakhamians with placements this year.

The format of work experience is as varied as the type of employment: employment based education can take the form of shadowing, an acquaint day, a taster course, as well as the traditional one or two week spell spent with an employer.

We look forward to working with our placement providers in the future and on behalf of our pupils, thank them again for the opportunities they afford us. Click here to see the names of some of our employers.
