A visit to Montacute House provided Year 5 pupils at Sunny Hill Preparatory School, Bruton School for Girls, with a chance to sample the Tudor way of life.

The homemade Tudor costumes, which the girls wore, helped them to appreciate the restrictions on a lady of that period. Although the girls took the opportunity to try out one of the National Trust swings in spite of their outfits.

Pupils enjoyed exploring the house above and below stairs learning about the life of a Tudor family and their servants.

Headteacher, Mrs Helen Snow, said
‘We had a wonderful time, a particular highlight for the girls was working in the Tudor kitchen making lavender and spice bags. Experiences like this really help to bring History to life.
