AB A 3Students at Abbots Bromley School are celebrating outstanding GCSE results.  This is the first year of reformed GCSE examinations which have been designed to be more difficult and include a new system of reporting results.  Numerical grades 9-1 have been introduced in English Language, English Literature and Maths, with grade 4 equating to a C grade and grade 7 an A grade.

There were delighted reactions at the school as students received their results.  100% of students gained the equivalent of at least 5 A*- C grades (93% including English and Maths), 81% of all examination entries were rewarded with the equivalent of A*- B grades and 49% of all papers achieved the equivalent of A*- A grades.  In addition, over three times the number of the new top grade 9 was achieved, compared with the national average.

Notable personal performances include Rachel Longman (the equivalent of 8 A* and 3 A grades), Amy Gasser (the equivalent of 5 A* and 5 A grades) and Elle Loundes (the equivalent of 4 A* and 6 A grades).

There was also an extremely impressive equivalent of 100% A*- C grades in Additional Science, Art, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Chinese, Dance, English Language, English Literature, French, Geography, German, History, Further Maths, Music, Photography, PE, Physics, Science and Spanish.

Principal, Maggie Shackleton, congratulated students on their tremendous success. “Everyone at Abbots Bromley School is thrilled that our students have achieved such wonderful results. Their hard work has most definitely paid off. It is particularly pleasing that 64% of papers taken by our students exceeded their externally generated predicted grades. This demonstrates the value added by the school during the students’ time with us, which we have also seen in our A level results.

Thank you to parents, members of staff, the School Council and Victoria Musgrave (the outgoing Executive Headteacher) for the commitment that they have shown in supporting the students.  All have played their part in ensuring such an outstanding set of results. “

Abbots Bromley School welcomes visitors throughout the year and will be holding an Open Morning on Saturday 30th September, starting at 9.30am.  The school provides wonderful opportunities for students between the ages of 3 to 18 with a co-educational Prep School and Sixth Form and boys starting in Year 7 from this September.
