Sutton Valence GCSE ResultsWith almost a third of students gaining seven or more A* and A grades in their GCSEs today (Thursday 22nd August 2013), Sutton Valence School, near Maidstone, is celebrating once again its best-ever results with the Year 11 cohort achieving 44.1% A* and A grades. What’s more, the top set grammar-equivalent students have achieved 89% A* and A grades.

Against the backdrop of Ofqual announcing harsher marking this year, students at Sutton Valence have a lot to be happy about. Not only has there been a 63% increase in A* and A grades over the last six years and this year 13% have achieved 10 A*s and As, but in the key Science, English and Mathematics subjects passes at A* and A are significantly higher this year than last.

Two students achieved straight A* and A grades across 12 GCSEs: Hannah Davies, Kingswood and Mia van Diepen, Harrietsham and one student, Charlie Gellett, Goudhurst, accomplished straight A*-A grades in a lucky-for-some 13 GCSEs.

Headmaster Bruce Grindlay said that Sutton Valence’s exam results have been consistently improving in recent years. He was delighted that the school had maintained its progress in the top grades but also with 94% A* to Cs, improvement was across the board.

Mr Grindlay said “Sutton Valence is a broad intake school, and these exceptional results are further testimony to the excellence of the ethos of the school which aims to add value to every pupil. Not only has the whole year gained 94% A* to C grades, our top, grammar-equivalent set has attained a huge 89% A* and A grades. All of the pupils and our dedicated staff deserve to be congratulated.
