A total of 15 students from the Taunton School will try-out for netball performance pathways this season, at regional and national level.

Year 13 students Isla May and Tia Chaloner will try out for Team Bath at U21 and U19 levels respectively, whilst Flora Collier has been put forward for the Celtic Dragon U19 team in Wales. Isla and Flora are also attending trials for the England and Wales U21 national teams.

Thirteen Year 9 and 10 students have been nominated to try-out for the Somerset Netball County Academy U15 team this season. Many have already completed the first stage of the county pathway, having been selected for the Satellite Academy in previous seasons, and are now progressing onto the next stage of performance netball.

All the trials will take place over the next couple of months and will test athletes on their technical and tactical skills as well as their on-court decision making. These aspects are focused on in their one-to-one and group sessions within the school netball programme.

Sammy Kemmish, Head of Netball at the School, said: “We are very proud to have so many of our netballers trialling and performing at this level – a huge achievement for all of them at the various stages in their netball pathway. Successful or not, exposure to trial at these levels will provide them with invaluable experience. I wish all the girls the best of luck.”
