Sophie McKenzie visited the school just days after her latest novel ‘Blood Ransom’ was published and talked to pupils from Bruton School for Girls and Sexey’s School about sources of inspiration and creating stories.

Bali Rai won the Angus Book Prize for his first novel ‘(un)Arranged Marriage’ and writes about the tension caused by the clash between Asian and British culture for teenagers in the UK. During a creative writing workshop with the author, Year 9 pupils learnt how to turn everyday situations and people into interesting stories.

Headmaster, John Burrough, said ‘The power of good fiction to stimulate the imagination and widen horizons is not lost on our pupils but the visits of these two leading authors will further have enhanced their enjoyment and understanding.’
