The Leys, Cambridge appoints new Head Master

Leys Cambridge new headmasterMartin Priestley, currently Headmaster of Warminster School in Wiltshire, has been appointed as successor to Mark Slater, who is retiring after almost a decade as Headmaster of The Leys.

Mr Slater, who will leave in January 2014, said: “These years have been the most fulfilling of my professional life, and The Leys will always occupy a special place in my heart.

I am immensely proud of the superb academic results, of the outstanding facilities, of the high standards in sport and the arts, and above all of the pupils themselves, who are such a credit to the school.”

Mr Priestley studied politics, philosophy and economics at Oxford and his interests include singing, writing and playing squash. He will be working closely with Mr Slater to ensure a smooth transition.

He said: “I cannot imagine a more worthwhile and stimulating challenge and it is one to which I look forward immensely.”
