The Mount School York are celebrating an outstanding set of GCSE results which saw A* and A grades the order of the day.
Over one third of girls gained seven or more A*- A grades, whilst 90% achieved one or more A*-A. 57% of all results were graded A* – A.
Results across the year were strong, 92% of the overall grades were A*- C while 75% of grades were A*-B.
Adrienne Richmond, Principal of The Mount School York said, “I am extremely delighted with today’s GCSE results. The girls have achieved an excellent set of results that reflects all the hard work of our girls and staff over the past two years.”
“As we are a small school, staff really get to know each girl as an individual. We know their strengths and we understand their needs allowing us to tailor our teaching methods. I’m sure that the bespoke education we offer is the most important factor in today’s outstanding results. I am really proud of all the girls have achieved and look forward to seeing them to continue to flourish in our Sixth Form.”

Among those celebrating today were Amy Foster who was awarded six A*s and three As.
“I’m so happy! I’ve worked hard over the last two years. It’s amazing to have gained such fantastic results. I am thankful to all the staff at The Mount and can’t wait to continue with A Levels in the Sixth Form.”
Also celebrating were Daisy Smart who achieved an impressive 8 A*s and 2 As and Muskan Kabir who gained seven A*s, two As and one C.
This year saw the introduction of grades 9-1 in English and Maths GCSEs, grades 7 to 9 being the equivalent to an A*/A. The new system did not phase Mount girls with 13% of the grades in English and Maths at grade 9.
