Last week Malvern St James hosted the Cheerleading and Sports Dance Festival. The event took place in our Sports Centre and was attended by 14 schools from Herefordshire and Worcestershire.
Despite stiff competition, MSJ won the Sports Dance section and have been invited to perform during half time at a Worcester Warriors game.
This achievement is particularly impressive as the girls had only 10 days to prepare for the competition and they lost their coach through injury after just 3 days. Showing true MSJ determination, the team refused to let this disaster hold them back. The girls rose admirably to the challenge and, led by Emma Leese, completed the routine themselves!
Mrs Bevan, Head of PE, said, ‘This is the third time that Malvern St James has hosted this Festival, which is always very well-supported and extremely lively! The atmosphere was fantastic and the girls competed competently and confidently – they were a real credit to the School. We look forward to watching them perform in front of thousands of spectators at the Worcester Stadium in the near future.’
