Three talented brass players at Stonyhurst College have just been awarded diplomas from the London College of Stonyhurst CollegeMusic.

Sixth-formers, Shannon Gateley and Charlotte Redmond, and Noah Williams who is in year 10, each played a 20 minute recital for the award.

Charlotte and Noah, both trombonists, played Rimsky Korsakov’s Trombone Concerto (1st movement), Saint-Saens’ Cavatine, Leonard Bernstein’s Elegy for Mippy II and Edward Gregson’s Divertimento.

Shannon, a trumpeter, played the Otto Trumpet Concerto by Luigi Otto and Andante et Scherzo by Henri Busser. Their teacher, Greg Banks, said: ‘They are all very committed to their music and play in many different ensembles at Stonyhurst, so I’m delighted that they’ve each gained the Dip LCM, which is the the next step after Grade 8.”

All three musicians play in the Stonyhurst Big Band, which last autumn went on an exciting tour to Hong Kong and China.
