Queen Margaret's 739Today’s GCSE results are cause for celebration at Queen Margaret’s, Escrick. Not only have 98% of students achieved five or more A*-C grades (up on last year’s 95% and far outstripping the falling national average of 67%) but an impressive 87% of results are A*-B grades, up from 81% in 2015 and more than double the national average of 42%. Furthermore, there was a 100% pass rate at A*-C in 14 subjects, including the all-important Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

The results are proof that girls at Queen Margaret’s really do achieve excellence both inside and outside the classroom. Molly Hamilton is already a talented Sports Scholar, her writing has been selected for publication in a national project ‘The Letter to an Unknown Soldier’ and now she has gained A* grades across the board in ten GCSE subjects. Jemima Harpin reached the final of November’s ‘Golden Apron’ competition to find Yorkshire’s Best Young Chef 2015 and she has now scored four A* and six As at GCSE. Constance Warde-Aldam has secured ten A*-B grades just a week after representing the GB team in the FEI European Championships for Ponies in Denmark.

Queen Margaret’s Head, Jessica Miles, is delighted with the girls’ success: “These GCSE results demonstrate the hard work, dedication and commitment of both the students and staff at the School, congratulations must go to them all for an extremely successful year. Such superb results will provide an ideal foundation for the girls to move forward to the challenge of A Levels and the increased independence they will gain in the Sixth Form”.
