Tiny Jay, who teaches the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) syllabus at the Long Eaton school, had a new monologue entitled Bound inspired by her play Dog City, performed at the Tristan Bates Theatre as part of the So and So Kick Up the Arts Festival which took place from 22-27 July.

Dog City, a play about two young prisoners, was chosen and performed at the Lost Theatre as part of the One Act Festival in May, and, off the back of that success, Tina’s new monologue Bound was showcased at A Kick Up the Arts, a week-long festival of master-classes and showcases that featured a different aspect of the arts every day.

Two years ago Tina won the Kenneth Branagh Award for New Drama Writing after the performance of her play, Walking, directed by film and TV director Richard Elson, wowed judges at the Windsor Fringe Festival.

She admits she is excited to see her new play getting the opportunity to be enjoyed by a wide, diverse audience.

Tina, said: "Having my work performed at the festival was a fantastic experience, and I’d like to give a big thanks to the actress and director Sarah Berger who set up the festival as part of her So and So Arts Club, and for the great opportunity she has given myself, and many other performers at the festival. It was so rewarding to find my performance so well attended, with invited directors/producers in the audience, who have shown an interest in my work."

Dog City follows the friendship, pressures and tensions of the life behind bars of Fynn and Cal, with Bound further developing the background and emotional trauma of one of the characters.

Tina, who lives in West Hallam, teaches students in preparation for LAMDA examinations, at Trent College, specialising in a variety of areas including Acting, Devised Performance, and Speaking of Verse and Prose.
