A triumphant final performance of Troy Story was performed on Wednesday evening (22nd May 2013) by the talented Bearwood collegePrep School at Bearwood College.

Almost 40 pupils from years 3 to 6 sang, danced and acted their way through the spectacular musical, delighting the audience who were moved to tears of joy and sorrow by the tragic, but entertaining, story.

The plot follows the battle between the Spartans and the Trojans over Helen of Sparta who is unwittingly ‘abducted’ from her Spartan husband, Menelaus, by the dastardly Trojan Prince, Paris.

Menelaus gathers his Greek warriors together and they travel from Sparta to Troy with the intention of rescuing Helen. Bloody battles ensue and many brave warriors die before and a stalemate is reached.

That is, of course, until the Spartans have a brilliant idea. They construct a wooden horse and present it to the Trojans.

The cunning Spartans are concealed within the belly of the horse and, at nightfall, once inside the Trojans walls, they emerge and slaughter all of the Trojans. Helen is returned to her husband and all the Spartans are very happy.

The Prep School performed brilliantly and the evening was heralded by all who saw it as a theatrical masterpiece. The costumes, set and lighting all served magnificently to highlight the plot and it was wonderful to witness the talents of bEARWOOD cOLLEGEthe young actors.

Assistant Head of the Prep School, Rebecca Holmes, was thrilled with the result. “The children have worked incredibly hard,” she commented, “It’s been a privilege to help them prepare for their first full length musical. They have demonstrated commitment, tenacity and confidence throughout the rehearsals and the performances, not to mention a huge amount of talent and humour! I know that they all really enjoyed being part of the group that was able to put such an excellent musical on. I’m very proud of them indeed.”
