Truro School will welcome two professional squash players next month for a masterclass session.

The world’s No. 1 player, Mohamed Elshorbagy, and his brother and world No.4, Marwan Elshorbagy, will visit the Sir Ben Ainslie Sports Centre to teach the school’s squash players’ new skills.

Tim Smith, Truro School’s squash coordinator, said: “Mohamed came to Truro School in 2016 and was very impressed with our facilities and is therefore very happy to return now.

“This high profile event will undoubtedly inspire and educate our squash pupils. Having the World No.1 and No.4 helping them on the court is a huge incentive and thumbs up for our squash programme at Truro School.”

The brothers recently played against each other in the World Open Final.

Squash has grown as a popular sport at the school, with over 70 players using the Sir Ben Ainslie Sport Centre facilities.

Marwan has previously coached Truro pupil Jack Mahon, who has risen through the ranks and is now No3 for British U13s. He was also recently crowned the U19 county champion at the age of 12.

Jack commented: “I’ve met both Mohamed and Marwan before so it will be good to meet them again and be able to ask them lots of questions.

“Meeting and watching some of the best Squash players inspires you to play more because they’re so good.”

Truro pupils have also had masterclasses from three-time world champion Nick Matthew and world record holder Cameron Pilley.
