A day of tension and excitement at St Edward's Oxford on
Tuesday 26th June ended in delight as Wellesley

cricketers beat Holmwood House in the final to became 2012 National JET Champions, and the girls' rounders team were just pipped into second place after a truly valiant display of fielding.

The 1st XI had struggled through a tight, rain-affected match against St Olave's* in the morning to take their place in the final against Holmwood House, Essex, which they went on to win**.

Theo Lindsay was awarded the match ball after taking 5 wickets for 17 runs in the semi-final. Lewis Bedford was named 'Player of the Tournament' for his run total in the final and throughout the tournament.

The 1st IX rounders team also performed extremely well, beating St Margaret's, York (18-15, declared) in the semi-final and only losing by 1/2 a rounder in a nail-bitingly close final against Millfield.

Camilla Roberts was named 'Player of the Tournament' for her play throughout and for scoring 6 rounders in one match alone. Heather Goldring also received a mention for good play.

Both teams were enthusiastically supported by parents and staff, including the Headmaster and Mrs O'Malley and Mr and Mrs Nichol. We would like to thank St Edward's for hosting the tournament and providing such excellent facilities and refreshments; the Royal National Children's Foundation(formerly the Joint Educational Trust); Summer Fields for their hospitality in hosting the boys overnight and our cricket kit sponsors, Gunn & Moore, for their support.

There will be detailed match reports to follow and further pictures in the Gallery.

*The cricket score v St Olave's was adjusted due to rain. After 10 overs Wellesley were 56 for 4 and St Olave's 56 for 6. Wellesley won by losing fewer wickets.

**In the final, Wellesley were 88 all out and Holmwood House 71. Bedford 46. Lindsay 3 for 13.
