Drama is an important part of life at Wellesley House and the senior school play Michaelmas 2012, ‘The Pirates ofWellesley House pIRATES DRAMA Penzance’, was a triumph. The staff and pupils worked tirelessly to put together a superb production of this Gilbert and Sullivan favourite. Each of the three performances was enjoyed immensely by cast and audience alike.

Cece Plumptre and Charlie Jessel played the leading roles of Mabel and Frederick. They both sang beautifully and led the show with poise.

Alex Harris was the Pirate King and Harry Street played his sidekick Lieutenant Samuel. Isabella Sabin-Dawson played Frederick’s ageing nanny Ruth while William Fenwick played the very model of a ‘modern Major-General’ and had the pleasure of leading the ‘bevy of beautiful maidens’ who were his daughters.

Dom Jessel was the Sergeant of Police who had the challenge of persuading his timid officers to fight the pirates.
The whole cast did a wonderful job and put on a very entertaining show.

A full review of the show will feature in the 2013 edition of the school magazine, ‘The Welleslian’.
