To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Wellington School Corps of Drums, the current Corps, wellington schooltogether with old boys and girls of the school, travelled to Ypres, in Belgium, last Friday to participate in a very special Last Post ceremony.

Head of the Corps of Drums, Mr Simon James, had managed to procure one of the original six bugles used at the very first Last Post ceremony in 1927, for bugler Anthony James to perform with. It was a great honour to be able to return the bugle to the Menin Gate for this occasion.

It sparked much interest, particularly from the American Ambassador to Belgium, Howard Gutman, who was also in attendance.

Please listen to this radio interview with Mr James and Headmaster Mr Reader prior to their departure.

This video clip is slightly longer, but shows more of the Corps of Drums processing and playing outside the floodlit Cloth Hall in the centre of Ypres, which is also the site of the 'In Flanders Fields' Museum.
