Wellington_School_easter_bonnetsWellington Junior School children have had an exciting week in the run-up to Easter.

The Nursery children visited Rumwell Farm Shop to find out a little more about where our food comes from. This also supports our focus for this half term – ‘growth and new life’.

This was the first trip on the school minibus for the children who joined us in January – how exciting!

Anne Mitchell and her team at Rumwell Farm Shop made us very welcome: the children were introduced to many different fish on the fish counter and learned lovely new words such as John Dory, hake, plaice and mackerel! They felt very lucky to be allowed to go through the special door which said ‘staff only’ to see delicious Rocky Road being made and also tasted some gorgeous cheeses!

The Nursery children and teachers are most grateful to Rumwell Farm Shop for giving us such an interesting morning.

Then on Monday, the beautiful chapel was packed with parents and friends to watch the Easter Bonnet parade and be part of an inspiring Easter service. Members of the Junior School acted and sang in a jazzy version of the Easter story, with some catchy tunes and lilting lyrics.  Headmaster Adam Gibson also surprised the congregation by putting his pinny on and doing some impromptu egg-cracking! As the magnificent Chapel organ rang out and the sun poured in through the beautiful stained glass windows, it felt as though Spring was just around the corner.
