Wellington Prep School Sausages Rumwell Farm ShopA fabulous French Café opened in the school hall, and 200 parents and friends were served delicious baguettes, croissants and home-made pastries by French speaking children. The event is run as an “Apprentice” – style challenge, with competing teams of Year 6 children setting up stalls, buying, cooking, pricing and serving delicious goodies as a business venture.  The melodious tones of Parisian accordionists reverberated around the hall and everyone enjoyed the truly French atmosphere. This event was run to raise money for the designated school charities – The Sierra Leone Community Project and Alzheimer’s Society, and the children managed to raise over £300.

Our 24 Nursery children had a trip to Rumwell Farm Shop to learn about Healthy Eating. This is an important topic for the children this term and they also have visits from the nurse to talk about washing hands and keeping healthy.

The children learnt where our food comes from, enjoyed the colours and textures of all the beautiful fruit and vegetables and had fun with endless strings of home-made sausages which kept trying to escape! They sampled some of the delicious locally made cheese and looked at the gorgeous fresh fish glistening in the sparkling ice.  A very exciting and delicious week has been had by all!
