(L-R) Ella Leonard and Dylan Leonard and Timothy Kilbey, of Wellington School have been selected for the National Children’s Orchestra

Three pupils from Wellington School have once again won places in the prestigious National Children’s Orchestra.

Dylan Leonard in Year 6, Ella Leonard in Year 8 and Timothy Kilbey in Year 9 will all take part in orchestral performances and have access to training by some of the country’s top musicians.

Dylan and Timothy will both be part of the brass section on trumpet and French horn respectively while Ella will join the woodwind section on oboe.

The National Children’s Orchestra brings together hundreds of 7-13 year olds from across the country and offers them a life-changing experience – meeting like-minded people and being guided by top professional musicians.

All three pupils will be attending an NCO camp at Easter and regional summer workshops.

They will also be playing in a special memorial concert at the Royal Festival Hall in February.  This concert will be celebrating the life of inspirational Founder of the National Children’s Orchestra – Vivienne Price and will be a thrilling opportunity for these pupils to experience truly high level performance in one of the most famous venues in the world.
This celebratory concert will feature performances by invited guests who will combine to form the Vivienne Price Memorial Orchestras. The repertoire includes Vaughan-Williams’The Lark Ascending, Tchaikovsky’s 2nd movement of Symphony No. 5 and Marquez’s Danzón No.2 amongst many other spectacular works.

This is a truly exceptional opportunity for these pupils and they are all delighted to be performing together again.
