Head Boy Oliver Rowe will study at Cambridge

Wellington School has been named the second best school in Somerset and in the top 5% of schools in the country.

The recently published Department for Education League tables ranked Wellington student’s progress by comparing their GCSE and A Level results, with these above the national average and in the top 5% nationwide.

This follows other recent academic successes the school has achieved, with a team of three mathematicians recently awarded distinctions in the British Mathematical Olympiad. The trio of Jecky Zhang, Marco Leong and Tommy Law will now compete in the National Final at Westminster later this week.

The school is also celebrating students receiving their university offers, with head boy Oliver Rowe given an offer to study classics at Cambridge University.  Many students have received offers to study at top universities and Anson Tang’s opportunity to study piano at the prestigious Royal Scottish Academy highlights the school’s range of talent.

Headmaster Henry Price commented: “We are delighted that so many of our sixth form are demonstrating their talent and versatility. The league tables demonstrate how we are able to enhance the experiences of pupils in the sixth form, allowing them to reach their goals in whatever field that may be.”
