Wellington School is celebrating Oxbridge success and strong performances across a range of A Level subjects, including excellent results in key subjects such as Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, English Literature and Classics.
Headmaster, Henry Price commented, ‘I am delighted by the Oxbridge success of classicists Charlie Cooper and Sophie Bennett and very pleased to see that more than 70% of pupils are headed to Russell Group or equivalent universities. Whilst the advent of reformed A Levels has presented challenges this year, we are pleased with what our pupils have achieved across the board in the most challenging range of facilitating subjects at Wellington. Well done to them, their teachers and their families who have supported them’
Mathematics at Wellington continues to shine with over 50% of grades at A*-A and 64% in Further Mathematics. A number of pupils will be studying Mathematics or Computer Science at some of the top universities this year, suggesting a top grade Mathematics score is the key to many course options.
These are exciting times at Wellington School with a host of new developments in the pipeline. The School roll will be at the highest level for many years and in response to the growing demand for boarding, a new boarding house will be opening in September. A new all-weather pitch has just been finished, and extensive work on the library, café and other school developments are in progress.
The vast majority of pupils have been accepted into their preferred university and have been successful in gaining places on credible, academically robust courses which are popular with employers. There is an incredibly strong support system for UCAS applications and entry at Wellington, so there is always a team of experts on hand to assist pupils throughout the entire process and ensure they are as successful as possible.
