Wellington School Photography Competition Carmival FeverA Wellington School pupil has won a prestigious photography award.

 

Michael Crilly in Year 10, entered the Wellington area Rotary Club Young Photographer of the Year Competition with a portfolio of three photographs entitled “Lighting up the Community”.

 

Having won the area competition, the entries were put forward to the District Competition, which encompasses most of Somerset, North and East Somerset.

 

He has now won that District level and is now in the running for the National Young Photographer of the Year Award.

 

Each year, thousands of youngsters take part in the Rotary Club’s Youth Competitions.

 

Entrants are required to submit three photographs on a theme in black and white or colour, along with a description of the inspiration for their photographs  They are encouraged to experiment with photography, use either digital or traditional methods of photography, show interpretation of a given topic and express ideas through the medium of photography.

 

The competition is open to students in full time education in three age categories.   Michael is in the Senior (14-17) category and will hear the final results in the summer.
