Last Sunday, a group of young musicians put on a concert in Milverton Church to raise money for the charity Brainwave. The concert was organised by Nathaniel Jenkins, a Wellington School pupil and most of the performers were also from Wellington School
Having previously had the opportunity to play on the Milverton Concert Society’s grand piano, local lad Nat Jenkins (Year 9) decided he would like to organise a concert in the church using the piano. The musicians were ably accompanied by Wellington School music teacher John Young and there was a range of instruments on show, including the oboe, clarinet, trumpet, violin and voice. It was a splendid afternoon; music was enjoyed and cakes were consumed.
“Nat Jenkins telephoned to say he had chosen to support Brainwave following a concert at School last November”, commented Paul Smith, SW community manager of Brainwave
“The concert was extremely professional and for such an excellent cause. All the performers (most from Wellington School) were excellent and the programme was well put together and great fun. Nat did everything so very well and was a credit to himself, his family and the School.”
The event raised over £300 for Brainwave, a charity which aims to improve children’s mobility, communication skills, and learning potential, through a range of educational and physical therapies.
